The coffee shop next to the main station is the place to be. Got my first phone number yesterday and also....drank some really good milk chocolate. Page 115 of 170 of my book. Don't think I'll finish in two days, I've got plans friday night as well as getting my cell phone on saturday.
Social Conditioning, dragging your feet while you walk.
Are japanese genetically incapable of lifting their feet while walking? na. Part of it I'm sure is the influence of wearing slippers inside, as well as always changing shoes, sometimes smashing down the back of sneakers to take the place of slippers.
Changes in my social conscience;
Eating in public is weird. I'm not sure why, but I really don't care to follow the rules anymore. If I'm hungry and waiting at the station, I'm going to eat my bread.
There's an incredible difference in reaction if I have my book out versus starring at the wall/floor/whatever. Today, while putting it away, a grandma aged women saw I knew some Japanese and released the motor of Japanese on train. I understood about 25%. She went to Hokkaido and hurt her leg on the train somehow.
I don't have enough time for working out and studying. With only 3 hours-ish to myself each day, I gotta make that decision. I've temporarily sorted out a medium by studying at the coffee shop 3 miles away. But, carrying my skateboard isn't really possible.
The train station near my house is the last station before a major split on a main line from Tokyo. While walking alongside the split station downtown, at the coffee shop, it's amazing to see how close together and how crowded each train is, full of Tokyo workers, despite being 40-50 minutes away. Packed 10 car trains. At one crossing, the blocks stayed down for 4 trains straight, around 8 minutes. As quickly as the express trains in each direction, as well as local trains flew by, there was never enough time to raise the gates, meaning 8 minutes of watching trains go by for those wishing to cross. And all of them the long, rush hour, 10 car monsters.
I keep Japanese television on all the time. I have no opinion right now. I would like to mention the midi version of "one way or another" by Blondie playing at the nearby grocery store last night.
If you got questions, post em.
Did you ever read that Big Trouble book I sent ya? With Puggy and the hot latino?
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you considered getting one of those cool mini 16" wheel bicycles that folds? You could bring that to the station, then do lifting with it until the train comes. Make sure you have on a Hulkmania shirt first.
here's another:
ReplyDeletedo japanese eat "golden delicious" apples? if so, what do they call them? because i'm hooked on 'em.
i drag my feet and my knuckles.
ReplyDeletethat reply is complete and utter nonsense.
