the 17th marks the anniversary of the most kick ass storm in the 20ish years i lived in cincinnati. in the aftermath of a hurricane, extreme wind patterns brought a jet stream to basically ground level for about 9 hours. winds averaged 50-70 miles per hour. i happened to be at the airport working the entire time. everyone stayed inside, and occasionally moved luggage to safer, wind resistant areas. In another area outside the same building a 3000lbs-ish metal cart got swept up and flown into a parked plane. There was one point that i tried walking across a paved area, large enough for planes, but the winds were so strong, i felt like even a few more mph and i would be off my feet, especially since it was an open area and nothing to grab onto. trees were down everywhere, i think 3 people died directly caused by it.
